Parenting OC's Annual Summer Opportunities Jamboree - Santa Ana

Parenting OC has partnered with Orange County’s Discovery Cube Science Center to present the 10th Anniversary edition of the Kid’s Summer Opportunities Jamboree event, to take place on March 5, 2016, at the iconic Orange County family destination. This event will take place in the Showcase Theater and will feature exhibitors specializing in summer fun and learning opportunities for families, including overnight camps, day camps, sports leagues and clinics, outdoor adventures, horse and cattle ranches, surf and swim programs, science and technology camps and more.

On the day of the event, guests to the Jamboree will receive tickets for free child admission to the Discovery Cube (each ticket a $12.95 value). Admission to the Jamboree is free.

Festival of Whales - Dana Point

The annual Dana Point Festival of Whales celebrates the return of the once-endangered California Gray Whale with a leviathan-size event. Irvine Park Railroad Easter Eggstravaganza
March 5 - 26, 2016

At Irvine Park Railroad's Easter Eggstravaganza, children and adults can ride the train through beautiful Irvine Regional Park. Children ages 2 through 12 can participate in an Easter egg hunt. Each egg is filled with candy or a prize. Easter egg hunts begin daily at 10:00 AM and tickets may be purchased to participate in an egg hunt at a specific time. Please bring an Easter basket for each child that will be participating in the Easter egg hunt. Irvine Park Railroad also offers Easter baskets for sale.

Tickets must be purchased on the day of the event in order to receive a wristband for the Easter egg hunt. Children can also meet and have their picture taken with the Easter bunny (visit web site for cost). Other activities include hay rides, Easter cookie decorating, face painting, carnival games and a lot more. Additional Irvine Regional Park activities inside of the park include Irvine Park Rentals' paddle boats and Wheel Fun Rentals® bikes (single surrey bikes, deuce coupes, choppers, beach cruises and more), the Orange County Zoo and pony rides. Swallows Day Fiesta Grande - San Juan Capistrano

This night of Old West entertainment consists of four contests are rolled into one! Best Dressed Old West Man, Best Dressed Old West Woman, Best Belt Buckle, and the Hairiest Man (best moustache and/or beard). So don your finest Old West outfit, belt buckle or facial hair! and enter one or more of the contests. There is a $5 entry fee per category for each contestant entered.

For the more timid, spectators are always welcome at the hilarious Fiesta Grandé.

Swallows Day Parade & Mercado - San Juan Capistrano

The Parade takes place in down-town San Juan Capistrano. This is the nation's largest non-motorized parade. It is totally organized and presented by the San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Association. Arrive early; most street closures are by 10.00 a.m. The parade begins promptly at 11 am.

The Mercado is a Street Fair and Market Place where you can eat, drink, and shop at over 100 booths. It is THE place to be after the parade! Listen and dance to the music of The Working Cowboy Band, a traditional country music band.

Cherry Blossum Festival

Civil War Re-enactment - Anaheim

Pet Expo - Costa Mesa

A giant animal entertainment and education festival. It’s the largest pet and pet product expo in the world. Irvine Park Railroad California History Education Program Family Day

Both children and adults can take a trip back in time with Irvine Park Railroad’s 2016 Fourth Grade California History Education Program on family day. This fun program – created by teachers, for teachers - is a hands-on learning experience and meets the State of California curriculum requirements for fourth grade history/social science (for field trip attendees during the week).
