Fullerton Arboretum

a 26-acre botanical garden with an ecologically arranged collection of plants from around the world, is located on the northeast corner of the California State University, Fullerton campus (hours/map/directions). The Arboretum serves the community as a resource for ecological, horticultural, and historical education. The beautiful grounds offer visitors a peaceful garden setting in the midst of our urban area.

Heritage House

Heritage House was built in 1894 as the home and office of Fullerton’s pioneer physician, Dr. George C. Clark. In 1972 the house was moved from its original townsite at the corner of Amerige and Harvard (Lemon) to the Fullerton Arboretum. The restored house now serves as a museum of family life and medical practice of the 1890s.

Maverick Theater

Originally located in Orange, The Maverick Theater is now located in downtown Fullerton. Their live stage productions in an art deco-inspired setting include such diverse entertainment as The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Night of the Living Dead, Stalag 17 and Shakespearean plays such as Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet.

The Muckenthaler Cultural Center

The Muckenthaler home was built in 1924 by Walter and Adella Muckenthaler atop a hill in Fullerton. The 18-room villa on 8.5 acres was donated to the city in 1965 by Harold Muckenthaler who wished to see his childhood home used as a cultural center for the public to enjoy. In 1999, the Muckenthaler Cultural Center villa was included on the National Register of Historic Places. 'The Muck' produces more than 100 performances, gallery exhibits and classes every year, and serves more than 30,000 people.

California State University Fullerton

Situated on a landscaped 228-acre campus, California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) is a comprehensive, regional university located in Orange County, CA, a technologically rich and culturally vibrant area of metropolitan Los Angeles. With seven colleges and approximately 1,900 faculty members, the university offers 100 degree programs, 46 of them at the graduate level.

Downtown Fullerton

Downtown Fullerton offers a rustic old town atmosphere with a cluster of more than 70 historic buildings, beautiful shade trees, and decorative walkways, providing a comfortable setting to gather with friends, enjoy music, and catch up on the latest news. The downtown is more than just another shopping center - it also serves as a vibrant cultural center with facilities, such as the award-winning Museum Center, the Downtown Plaza, and Plummer Auditorium.

It is also home to financial, religious, and governmental institutions, as well as a bustling regional transportation center that serves more than 350,000 passengers every year.

Fox Theater

For over eighty years, the Fox Theatre has been a dominant feature in the heart of the downtown Fullerton business district. The Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation, formed in 2001, obtained help from experts to develop a financially feasible project that will allow the Theatre be restored and run as a self-sustaining cultural center, featuring independent/classic film, concerts, plays, and special events.

 

Recreation

Fullerton Pooch Park

There is both a small dog park for small, senior and disabled pooches and a large dog park for active, high-energy, big pooches. All pooches and their owners are welcome provided everyone follows the rules and regulations and owners pick up after their dogs. Run by the city of Fullerton.

Hours:
Park hours are 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except Wednesdays. The park is closed Wednesdays for maintenance.
