Whale
Capital of the West - Dana Point California
Each
Winter, thousands of California Gray Whales leave the
cold Arctic Seas and follow the coast line to the warm,
calm waters of Southern California and Baja. This 10,000
mile round trip migration brings the majority of the
Gray Whale population past Dana Point where they can
easily be seen and photographed. Dana Point is possibly
a reference "landmark" for the whales, and is a famous
gathering area attracting not only marine mammals, but
marine biologists and whale watchers alike.
Dana
Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching, originated Whale
Watching way back in the late 60's and is the 1st to
ever Whale Watch along the Orange County Coast, ideally
located to provide the closest doorway into the world
of these incredible whales. Daily whale watch trips
are scheduled during the Gray Whales migration migration
aboard large, comfortable boats. The Dana Wharf fleet
can accommodate individuals or large groups, and is
a favorite among teachers and educators.
Aboard
your boat, you will find amenities such as a snack bar,
clean rest-rooms, courteous staff and very knowledgeable
captains and naturalist, who have been sailing these
waters for most of their lives and are eager to share
their knowledge of the sea and the creatures that live
within it.
Watch
and learn first hand as the whales, dolphins, and other
marine life put on one of the best shows on earth. You
will see all these animals in their splendor as you
cruise along our beautiful coastline.
