The Orange County Center for Contemporary Art (OCCCA) is artist operated and dedicated to the pursuit of professional excellence and freedom of expression in the arts.

One of the longest running co-op galleries in the United States, they have been presenting artwork since 1980.

Founded in 1992 by Joan Irvine Smith and her mother, the late Athalie R. Clarke, this is the only museum in California dedicated to the preservation and display of California Impressionism or Plein-Air paintings, an art style that flourished in Orange County and all of California from 1890 to 1930. Over a hundred years ago, the splendor of nature fascinated artists and compelled them to paint beautiful paintings. As visitors view the rare and remarkable paintings housed here, people are returned, all too briefly, to a time long ago when the land and its bounty were open and almost limitless.

From the turn of the century through the 1930s, Laguna Beach was home to one of the most significant artists' colony on the Pacific Coast. The Laguna Art Museum has not only been the focal point of this art colony but, instrumental in uncovering its history as well. This museum collects, cares for, and exhibits works of art that were created by California artists or represent the life and history of the state.
